What you can expect in a day in this role:
Working closely with the Head Chef and Hunter Street Precinct Executive Chef, you will play a key role in leading daily kitchen operations, developing your team, driving food quality standards, and contributing to the continued evolution of one of Hobart's leading waterfront dining destinations.
You'll gain exposure to a diverse operation including restaurant dining, lounge service, in-room dining, conferences and events, providing valuable experience across multiple hospitality formats.
Your key responsibilities will be:
Supporting the Head Chef in leading day-to-day kitchen operations
Leading service and food preparation across restaurant, hotel and event offerings
Coaching, mentoring and developing kitchen team members
Contributing to menu development, product sourcing and seasonal menu changes
Supporting food cost, stock control and purchasing targets
Maintaining food safety, WHS and operational standards
Fostering a positive, respectful and high-performing kitchen culture
Collaborating closely with front-of-house, events and hotel teams to deliver seamless service experiences
What You'll Bring
Previous experience as a Sous Chef or senior Chef de Partie in a quality restaurant or hotel environment
Strong leadership skills and a passion for developing people
Sound knowledge of food safety, stock control and kitchen operations
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced service environment
A passion for Tasmanian produce and delivering exceptional guest experiences
