FAQs

We are as curious about you, as you are about us!

Your application gives us an insight into you and your career experience but we encourage you engage us, stand out and help us understand all about you. Here are a few tips for your application:

Tailor Your Resume to the Job: Customise the skills and experiences you have that match the job description. This shows that you understand the role and have the required qualifications.

Highlight Your Achievements: Be proud of what you've accomplished! Include specific examples, this could be projects you led, awards you received, or improvements you made in your previous jobs.

Update Your Contact Information: Make sure your name, phone number, email, and LinkedIn profile/social media profiles (if applicable and include links) are current and correct.

Detail Your Employment History: List your most recent jobs first, including the start and end dates. This helps us understand your career progression and your work experience better.

Choose Appropriate Referees: Include two professional referees who can speak to your skills and work ethic. Ideally, these should be former supervisors, managers, or business owners who know your work well.

Show Your Personality: Your resume is a chance to show us who you are. Include any volunteer experience, hobbies, or interests outside of work. This can make your resume more memorable and give employers a better idea of who you are as a person.

Be Honest: Answer the questions in our application form as honestly as possible, this helps us ensure we find you the right position.

Remember, your resume and application is the first impression we have of you. Make it count by including relevant and accurate information of your professional and personal self.

Before your interview, it's a good idea to check out our company and the job you're applying for. You can find information on our website, and maybe you know someone who works at one of our Federal Hospitality spots. It can be a great idea to visit the venue beforehand to see what your potential workspace might look like and see what happens on a real shift.

This interview is your chance to make a great first impression, so think about how you come across, from your outfit to how you carry yourself. Remember, for most of our jobs, you'll need to wear either a uniform or business clothes.

What to bring with you:

* Valid photo identification (for example: a driver's license or passport)
* Proof of your working rights in Australia, if that applies to you
* Any qualifications or certificates related to the job (for example: RSA or RCG)
* Contact information for 2 professional references, ideally from your most recent or current job
* A list of questions you have about the job, department, or Federal Hospitality

During the interview, we'll ask you about times you've shown the skills needed for the job.

Make sure you leave enough time to get here without rushing. If you're running late or can't make it, just let us know.

If you have applied directly for a vacant position, you will receive an acknowledgement email as soon as you submit your application so you know we have received it.

Following this, we will contact you as soon as possible, depending on how your application progresses through our recruitment process.

Is there more than 1 vacancy that catches your eye? Please feel free to apply for all that interest you!

You can submit an application to the General Applications or Expressions Of Interest advertisements at the bottom of Job Search page.

The benefit of applying to the general expressions of interest list is that prior to advertising a vacant position, our team search for suitable applicants and in many cases positions are filled without the need for advertising.

Expressions Of Interest

In the vibrant world of hospitality and tourism, where every detail matters, we place importance on regulatory compliance. Our dedication to maintaining a safe and compliant environment for our team members is unwavering, as we understand the importance of upholding the highest standards in every aspect of our operations.

If you're looking at applying for a role with us, please read the job advertisement or description in detail to understand the specific requirements of the job. There are also some general licencing and certifications we recommend obtaining, if you're considering working in Hospitality and Tourism in Tasmania, as they are widely required:

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (SITHFAB201)
  • Responsible Conduct of Gaming (SITHGAM201)
  • Working with Vulnerable People Check (WWVP)

For more information on how to apply for these certifications, we encourage you to visit Service Tasmania and the Tasmanian Liquor and Gaming Commission. These platforms provide comprehensive guidance and accurate support for anyone looking to embark on a career in hospitality and tourism in Tasmania.

If you are registered with a job provider through Services Australia, reach out to your contact to discuss what financial support might be available to help you cover the costs of these certifications and licences.

YES!

If you're considering joining our team in Tasmania, it's important to know about work visas and your rights as an employee. Australia offers various work visas, including temporary ones that allow you to work for up to a few years, and permanent ones that can lead to residency.

Choosing the right visa that matches your skills and career goals is crucial. Understanding your working rights is important to ensure you don't break your visa conditions.

As part of the recruitment process, our team will check the validity of your visa from details on your passport and continue to do so throughout your employment with us.

As part of our team, you'll have the same workplace rights as any Australian citizen. This means fair pay, safe work conditions, and protection from exploitation. We're committed to ensuring you have a safe and fair working experience with us.

We're here to support you every step of the way.
