What you can expect in a day in this role:
Reporting to the Security and Surveillance Manager, you are responsible for managing and overseeing the Wrest Point Security Department. You will cultivate a positive work culture and manage the training and development of our security personnel. You will use your leadership and technical knowledge to ensure compliance and will be expected to lead by example and work a mixture of admin days and shifts on the floor, including nights and weekends.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Provide consistent, hands on operational leadership across all shifts, including incident response, decision making, continuity during peak periods or unplanned events, and real time staff guidance and coaching.
Implement operational procedures and emergency response plans effectively during day today operations and critical incidents.
Ensure accurate incident reporting and documentation, maintaining strong compliance with organisational and regulatory standards.
Support audit readiness through high quality records, identify compliance risks, and uphold safety, surveillance and customer focused operational requirements.
Supervise, coach and mentor Shift Managers and frontline staff to build capability, strengthen onboarding and training, and promote consistent leadership across all shifts.
Foster a positive, professional and accountable workforce culture.
Contribute to operational planning to support efficient, high quality service delivery across all shifts.
Provide operational insights that inform improvements, modernisation and alignment with broader organisational priorities and risk management frameworks.
Balance administrative and operational responsibilities by completing leadership, planning and compliance tasks alongside regular on shift coverage.
Support roster stability by reducing backfill requirements and ensuring efficient use of labour resources without increasing overall costs.
What you’ll bring to the role:
Minimum 5 years of experience in security management, preferably within a casino or similar gaming and hospitality environment.
Certificate 3 in Security Operations (highly desirable)
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Effective collaboration and prioritising exceptional customer service for both internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to drive change and nurture a positive and supportive culture.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to gaming security and surveillance.
As part of this role, you will be required to have or obtain:
Tasmanian Security Licence, Monitoring Room and Crowd Control
Tasmania Gaming Special Employee Licence
Responsible Conduct of Gaming
Responsible Service of Alcohol
Workplace First Aid, including Advanced Resuscitation and CPR
