About the role 

As Junior Sous Chef, you'll play a key leadership role within our award-winning kitchen team. Working closely with the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, you'll help deliver memorable dining experiences for our guests while supporting the day-to-day operation of the kitchen. You'll contribute to a positive team culture, mentor junior team members and help bring seasonal menus to life that showcase Tasmania's renowned produce. 

At Saffire, our menus evolve regularly and are shaped by the season, the produce and the guest experience, creating a dynamic and rewarding environment for passionate chefs looking to further their culinary careers. 

You will: 

  • Support the leadership of the kitchen team and daily operations 

  • Prepare and present high-quality dishes that reflect Saffire's luxury standards 

  • Work closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs and broader kitchen brigade 

  • Assist with menu execution, preparation and seasonal menu development 

  • Maintain exceptional food safety, hygiene and kitchen presentation standards 

  • Mentor, guide and support junior team members 

  • Bring energy, care and consistency to every shift 

  • Support a collaborative and high-performing team environment 

  • Help create exceptional culinary experiences for every guest 

 

 

You're someone who: 

  • Has previous experience as a Junior Sous Chef, Chef de Partie or similar leadership role 

  • Has experience in a premium, fine dining, luxury lodge or similar environment 

  • Has a genuine passion for food, local produce and creating memorable dining experiences 

  • Demonstrates strong leadership, communication and organisational skills 

  • Brings professionalism, reliability and exceptional attention to detail 

  • Enjoys mentoring others and working as part of a close-knit, high-performing kitchen team 

  • Is flexible and comfortable working across a range of shifts 

  • Is keen to continue learning, developing and growing their culinary career 

  • Holds a current driver's licence and has reliable transport due to the location
