Working in one of Tasmania’s most stunning locations, on the waterfront just outside the Hobart CBD at Wrest Point, you will join our motivated and experienced Finance team.   

Federal Group encompasses a wide group of impressive brands including MACq01, Henry Jones Art Hotel, Saffire, Wrest Point Casino, Country Club Tasmania,12 community hotels under the Vantage Group as well as TASkeno, Odyssey, COPE Sensitive Freight and Corporate teams.  

Federal Hospitality is seeking a commercially astute and collaborative Finance Business Partner to support our premium Tourism properties including The Henry Jones Art Hotel, MACq 01 Hotel and Saffire Freycinet. 

 What can you expect from a day in this role?  

This is a hands-on, commercially focused finance role where you will partner directly with operational leaders to drive financial clarity, performance insight and sound decision-making across our hospitality portfolio. 

You will work closely with Hospitality Commercial Managers and the Group Finance team to ensure alignment of forecasts, financial inputs and governance standards. This role balances time between central office and on-property engagement to provide effective operational support.  

Key Responsibilities 

• Own financial performance of assigned Tourism properties, including P&L accountability, month-end processes, balance sheet integrity and ledger accuracy. 

• Deliver clear reporting and insights, providing variance analysis and commercial commentary to support operational decision-making. 

• Support budgeting and forecasting, validating assumptions and ensuring alignment between financial forecasts and operational plans. 

• Act as the primary finance partner for property leaders, providing practical day-to-day financial guidance and ensuring accurate coding and financial understanding. 

• Monitor performance metrics (labour, COGS, revenue, margin), identifying risks and opportunities early. 

• Ensure financial governance and compliance, supporting statutory reporting and contributing to continuous improvement of finance systems and processes. 

What will you bring to the role?  

You are a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams. You combine technical accounting strength with practical business insight and strong stakeholder engagement skills. This position operates with considerable autonomy within a clear accountability framework and is suited to an experienced Finance Manager or specialist business partner who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment. You will bring: 

• Experience in financial management, reporting and analysis (hospitality or tourism experience highly regarded) 

• Strong month-end and balance sheet management capability 

• Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting cycles 

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate financial data into operational insight 

• High attention to detail with strong governance discipline 

• Confidence working autonomously while collaborating effectively with broader finance teams
